Opticus Expands with General Sports Eyewear & Regular Prescription Glasses

November 12, 2014: Opticus Inc, the original Internet supplier of prescription high altitude (glacier) glasses, recently announced their expansion into prescription everyday glasses and general sportswear prescription sunglasses.

Opticus Inc. recently announced the expansion of their company, including sales of prescription everyday glasses at their retail store at 419 Main Street, as well as the expansion of their signature Altice Glacier Glasses line and the accompanying prescription services. Sunglasses and ski goggle inserts will be designed for not only high altitude glacier travel, but also for fishing, biking, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding and general outdoor athleticism.

“We realize that X Gens and Millenials approach their outdoor sporting needs in a very different way from their Baby Boomer counterparts,” stated Fred Seitzman owner and founder. “Rather than choosing a singular sport, these individuals want to experience it all. And we want our outdoor gear to reflect their needs.” Opticus’ most recent lens and eyewear products are being designed with that in mind.

Furthermore, Seitzman added, despite opening the retail store and main offices in Lyons just before the momentous floods of 2013, they’ve found the Lyons market ripe for locally made prescription glasses for everyday use. “We realized this was a natural extension of our services to residents of Lyons and Estes Park as well,” Seiztman stated. “It’s a return to our roots as we started out in Boulder in 1978 as an independent optical retailer.

In the last few days new inventory has arrived for the local line, and displays have been created in what used to be a storage area. “The concept includes a few good value lines with a bit of flair,” Seitzman said. “There’s nothing too outrageous, nothing outside the comfort zone, and nothing too pricey.”

“Opticus is a first ever for the Town of Lyons, but for a community that is rich in therapeutic services, it seems like a little eyecare is a good fit,” Seitzman added. Business hours are from 10a.m. to 5p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10a.m. to 4p.m. on Friday. Phone 303-823-6455.
